False eyelash application can be a bit tricky but if you know what you’re doing, you can create dramatic, natural-looking eyelashes in just minutes.
Today’s false eyelashes come in a variety of colours and styles. Whether you’re dressing up for Halloween or are looking for a day-to-day look, there are eyelash products available to suit your needs and false eyelash application is really very simple. Applying mascara will only get you so far and while they will darken and appear to lengthen and thicken, you can easily add false eyelashes to create eyelashes that are fuller, thicker and longer, comparable to the effect with mink eyelash options, which maybe too expensive for the average woman.
How to Apply False Eyelashes
Be sure your eyelids are clean. If your eyelids are oily and contain makeup, the glue will likely not stick.
Grab each end of the eyelash if it’s a full set and kind of roll it to make it a bit easier to work with. A stiff set of eyelashes can cause your lashes to look very unnatural.
Without using eyelash adhesive, place the lashes over your own lashes to kind of see how they will fit your eyes. You will likely need to cut them to make them fit your eye shape better and you may need to cut the lashes themselves as well.
Using a good eyelash glue, place a thin line of the adhesive onto the base of the false eyelashes. Let it get tacky by waiting approximately one minute or so before trying to apply it to your eye. Use caution when applying glue. You don’t want to use too much because the excess adhesive could get into your eyes.
Begin working with the inner corner of your eye and sticking the false eyelashes carefully to your lash line. Then carefully go along your lash line making sure the false eyelashes are following the natural curve of your own lash line. If you’re using individual lashes, these are even more difficult to work with because you need a steady hand. The false eyelash application process is basically the same except for starting at the inner corner of your eye, you begin by applying each lash individually to the outer corner of your eye and work your way in.
Makeup Over False Eyelashes
When you’re finished with the false eyelash application you do not need to apply mascara unless you wish to do so. To enhance the lash line and overall look you may want to apply some black liner to your upper and/or lower lash lines. Also, to help blend the false eyelashes with your own lashes, you can use an eyelash curler.
With a little practice you’ll find that false eyelash application is a piece of cake. You will get the hang of it with time. If you’re new to false eyelashes, it’s a good idea to apply them a few times and wear them around the house to get a good feel for them before you try wearing them out on the town.
